Recycling: How is it for You?

How have you found using your local waste and recycling centre?

It is clear that some of us are unhappy, so much so that councillors have been discussing making them ‘more user friendly’.

Cllr Viv Stoddart from Milford Hubberston submitted a motion recently at Pembrokeshire County Council’s full meeting, requesting a review of the booking system for the county’s waste recycling centres.

There are six household waste recycling centres in the county: Haverfordwest, Fishguard, Crane Cross, Waterloo, Hermon and St Davids, but there have been fears that the St Davids centre might close due to budget-saving measures .

A change.org petition, started by Richard Davies, with more than 1,600 signatures, plus strong advocacy from some councillors have brought about a reconsideration. Local councillors have been told that centre is to have a 12-month reprieve. It will be discussed again later this year when it is hoped that a more sustainable model can be found for its future.
