Pembrokeshire.Online Welcomes 2023

Pembrokeshire.Online has gone through various incarnations since it was created in 2018. There have been some stressful times when we didn’t think we could keep it going, but thanks to loyalty, kindness and sometimes sheer bloodymindedness we are still here at the beginning of the sparkly new year of 2023.

As many of you will know, we have lost people on the way – sometimes causing us much distress. We have gained people too and most importantly we have remained true to the original intentions for the magazine. Born out of a love for this county and its people, it has continued to share in words and pictures many of its delights.

We have genuinely loved meeting and writing about so many interesting people and projects – from artists, writers, storytellers and craftspeople… to those    who volunteer their time to make life brighter or easier for others… people who have the vision of a cleaner, friendlier future for us all… people who are called to heal or enlighten… innovative people, driven people, people with big stories to tell and people who don’t realise that they are making a difference just by “having a go” or acting on a dream… we have been delighted by your involvement.

And so… on the brink of a new year, here we go again.

Pembrokeshire.Online doesn’t have any financial backing from anyone at time of writing. All the volunteers who contribute give their time and skills for free.

We know that this might seem a bit peculiar. Running a magazine, even an online one, involves costs. We have periodically discussed taking on advertising, but we don’t enjoy wading through pages of ads when reading something and we really like the idea that, as this is a truly community venture and as our readership grows not just in Pembrokeshire but around the world, we want it to be an easily accessible read.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed whatever it might be and please know, we always want more.

A special thank you to John Ewart  from Datris whose advice and support with technical difficulties has kept us online.

We are unfortunately losing a great writer who has reviewed many a band and theatre production. Thank you, Rob Barnes and good luck for your new life in that place on the other side of the bridge.

We have been fortunate enough to obtain press passes for some events and activities and that has meant we have been able to attend a lot that we might otherwise have missed.

If you fancy free passes to shows and music events in exchange for writing reviews. We would be delighted to hear from you.

Have a story to tell? Want to update us on what you are doing? Want to write for us or offer other skills? Please get in touch. We are just waiting to hear from you.

Kitty has forgotten how long she has been here now but she loves Pembrokeshire for its beauty and it's people. She spends her time searching out stories for pembrokeshire.online, swimming in the sea , drawing and painting as Snorkelfish and eating cake. She says "Pembrokeshire.online has been an opportunity to celebrate this beautiful county and its people. Keep the stories coming. We love to hear from you."
