Cloddio’n ddwfn i orffennol cuddiedig Sir Benfro mewn digwyddiad archeoleg yng Nghastell Caeriw

Bydd Castell Caeriw yn cynnal digwyddiad newydd cyffrous yn nes ymlaen y mis yma. Bydd yn cynnwys diwrnod llawn o weithgareddau addysgiadol a difyr i unrhyw un sydd â diddordeb mewn hanes ac archeoleg.

Mae Darganfod Hanes: Sir Benfro’r Gorffennol wedi cael ei drefnu ar y cyd ag Ymddiriedolaeth Archeolegol Dyfed, a hefyd bydd nifer o amgueddfeydd lleol eraill a grwpiau hanes yn ymuno i ddarparu amrywiaeth eang o sgyrsiau, arddangosfeydd o arteffactau, casgliadau amgueddfeydd, a gweithgareddau archaeoleg ymarferol ar gyfer ymwelwyr o bob oed.

Bydd y digwyddiad yn rhoi cyfle unigryw i archwilio hanes cyfoethog Sir Benfro a dysgu am y darganfyddiadau archeolegol sydd wedi siapio’r rhanbarth dros amser. Yn ystod y digwyddiad, bydd ymwelwyr yn cael cyfle i sgwrsio ag arbenigwyr ac amaturiaid o wahanol feysydd, yn ogystal â chymryd rhan mewn gweithgareddau, sgyrsiau a thaith dywys o amgylch tir y Castell.

Dyma rai uchafbwyntiau:

Sgwrs ryngweithiol ar Hanesion Atgas, Ysgol Marchogion a Rhoi Cynnig ar Saethyddiaeth

Arddangosfeydd arteffactau gan grwpiau hanes lleol ac amgueddfeydd

Taith dywys o amgylch y Castell, dan arweiniad tywysydd arbenigol a fydd yn rhannu ei wybodaeth a’i ddealltwriaeth o hanes ac arwyddocâd y Castell.

Dywedodd Daisy Hughes, Rheolwr Castell Caeriw: “Rydyn ni’n falch iawn o gynnal Darganfod Hanes: Sir Benfro’r Gorffennol yng Nghastell Caeriw, ac o weithio gydag Ymddiriedolaeth Archeolegol Dyfed a grwpiau lleol eraill i ddod â’r digwyddiad hwn yn fyw.

“Credwn y bydd y digwyddiad hwn yn gyfle gwych i ymwelwyr ymgysylltu â hanes a threftadaeth gyfoethog Sir Benfro, ac i ddysgu mwy am y darganfyddiadau archeolegol diddorol sydd wedi dylanwadu ar ein dealltwriaeth o’r gorffennol.”

Cynhelir Darganfod Hanes: Sir Benfro’r Gorffennol yn cael ei gynnal ddydd Llun 24 Gorffennaf 2023 rhwng 10am a 4pm yng Nghastell Caeriw. Mae’r digwyddiad yn agored i bobl o bob oed ac mae’n rhad ac am ddim gyda’r pris mynediad arferol i’r Castell.

Carew Castle will host a full day of educational activities for anyone interested in history and archaeology.

Unearthing History: Pembrokeshire’s Past has been organised in collaboration with Dyfed Archaeological Trust, which will be joined by several other local museums and history groups to provide a wide range of talks, displays of artefacts, museum collections, and hands-on archaeology activities for visitors of all ages.

The event will offer an opportunity to explore the rich history of Pembrokeshire and learn about the archaeological discoveries that have shaped the region. Visitors will have the chance to engage with experts and enthusiasts from various fields, as well as participate in activities, talks and a guided tour of the Castle grounds.

Highlights will include:

Hands-on activities for children and families, including a mock excavation pit for budding young archaeologists

Interactive Horrid Histories talk, Knight School and Have-a-Go Archery

Displays of artefacts from local history groups and museums

A guided tour of the Castle, led by an expert guide who will share their knowledge and insights into the Castle’s history and significance.

Manager of Carew Castle Daisy Hughes said: “We are thrilled to be hosting Unearthing History: Pembrokeshire’s Past and to be working with Dyfed Archaeological Trust and other local groups to bring this event to life.

“We believe that this event will be a fantastic opportunity for visitors to engage with the rich history and heritage of Pembrokeshire, and to learn more about the fascinating archaeological discoveries that have shaped our understanding of the past.”

Unearthing History: Pembrokeshire’s Past will take place on Monday 24 July from 10am to 4pm. The event is open to all ages and is included free with normal Castle admission.
