Working Towards a Safer Narberth

A major programme of road safety work will begin in Narberth this summer – part of a scheme that has been going on for some years.

New dropped kerbs, better safety at junctions, new footpaths, and pedestrian crossings – funded by £411,000 of a Welsh Government budget – are planned to be completed by March 2024.

The measures are aimed to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists in Narberth and have been welcomed by councillors who have pledged to continue to identify and support improvement schemes throughout the town.

Areas earmarked for improvement are Narberth Health Centre, where a new pedestrian crossing point will be created across Northfield Road. A ramp will also be created to make access easier from the sheltered accommodation at Adams Drive and Belmore Steps.

A new footway at Station Road and crossing point linking the railway station and the town are also planned – plus access improvements  in the Park Roberts, Wells Road Terrace, and the Hawthorns and Eastgate/Jesse Road areas.
