Non-Stop Action at Memorial Hall

Newport Memorial Hall dates back to 1922. It was built to be a memorial to those from the town who died during the First World War.  £1,005 was paid to Martha Harvard for the land where the hall now stands. Newport folk raised the money by public subscription and much of the building stone was taken from the redundant warehouse on the Parrog.

Nowadays the hall’s principles of inclusivity and inspirational events and activities still aim to provide all members of the community with opportunities that they might not otherwise normally experience in this rural area.

A registered charity, it is managed by a committee supported by one member of staff.

Not only does the charity have a wide range of events throughout the week, but it also boasts the remains of a 500-year-old kiln.

There is a timetable of weekly events below. More information on the hall’s Facebook page.
