Celebrating 60 Years of Art

The local art groups of Cardigan, Newport, Rhosygilwen and Boncath will be celebrating 60 years of painting with a major art exhibition at Rhosygilwen from 28 March to 1 April.

Mary Hugh (pictured, a member of Cardigan Art Society since its inception in 1964, exhibited her first painting in the summer of that year and has continued to paint and exhibit her work without fail.

‘Painting has helped me connect to my community and also make me see this wonderful environment around me,’ she says.

Given the stunning landscapes and coastline, artists have never been short of inspiration to paint for all these decades.

Mary, like many of her other fellow painters, takes much comfort from the stimulation of meeting other artists.

The exhibition at Rhosygilwen will run from 10.30am to 4pm on all four days. Cream teas will be available in the Orangery café.

There is disabled access and free parking. All the artwork is said to be priced to be affordable to most.
