It’s Dolphin Soup…

Following close on the heels or, rather, the tail of the humpback whale recently, this month has been a real treat with what has been described as “dolphin soup” by some happy observers.

If you were at Strumble Head the other day, you might have been fortunate to have seen hundreds of common dolphins, including mothers and calves.

The Sealife Trust, which monitors the abundant wildlife in this area, has reported in its latest newsletter that the dolphins are in greater abundance this year with sightings throughout January in the Fishguard area. The influx may well be due to shoals of herring and other small fish which are drawing the dolphins towards Fishguard Harbour.

If you were wondering what happened to our visiting humpback whale, he was seen recently off the Cornish coast, heading southward to warmer waters.

The Sealife Trust, which does such excellent work in monitoring and protecting our wildlife, says:

“We are on a mission to protect and preserve our precious oceans and the incredible marine life that calls them home. From majestic whales to tiny sea slugs, every creature plays a crucial role in maintaining the delicate balance of our marine ecosystems. But we can’t do it alone – we need your support. By participating in our fundraisers, you’ll be making a direct impact on the health of our oceans and the creatures that rely on them for survival.”
