A Poem for My Brother
SIAN WALKER has written a very personal poem…
Ceri David Walker was born on the 8 September 1972 in Pembrokeshire. He grew up in Pembroke Dock and went to Albion Square school, Pembroke Dock junior school then Bush comprehensive school. He enjoyed art, computer games, fishing and karate.
At age 17 he joined the navy and went to many places all over the world. After leaving the navy he lived in Dorset, where he ran a number of pubs and clubs and had a number of door security jobs.
He loved music, he was an amazing singer and guitar player and came up with his own style of karaoke called “cerioke”.
Ceri had many friends in Wales, England and abroad and he would do anything for anybody.
Sadly, on 9 February 2024 he passed away unexpectedly.
As his sister I have written a poem in memory of him.
He was the best big brother anyone could have and he is missed by so many people.
WAVES
My sadness comes in waves
like the tide ebbing and flowing
each day
The crest of the waves
are memories of our time together
The lows of never seeing you again
White horses rise
like they have been abandoned
into a storm that is coming
I’m like a ship lost at sea
that’s how I feel without you
You were my lighthouse
on dark days
Now I have to be strong
even though I can’t imagine
a day without you
Forever my brother
Sian Walker
Sian Walker says: “I have lived in Pembrokeshire all 38 years of my life. Always loved art and writing and did fashion and textiles at college. Started writing poetry in 2012, self-published a poetry book in 2013 and was opening poet at the Celtic Women’s Festival in 2013, where I shared the stage with the musician Amy Wadge. I also had my own poetry group for two years in Narberth. I love attending the Hay Festival and people-watching while I’m there. I love all things gothic and quirky and I hate plain socks! I also love to travel and have been lucky enough to sail on two tall ships. One of my hobbies is to make artificial wreaths for different occasions and I hope next year to attend craft fairs with them. I love the beach and am at my happiest when I’m there with the smell of the sea in the air.”
