The Big Slowdown

It’s here – the controversial lowering of the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph across Wales.

The law passed back in July 2022 – which changes the speed limit on residential roads to 20mph – is now in force.

Most of these roads are in more built-up areas, with street lighting no more than 200 yards apart, but confusion reigns among drivers, as some residential roads are exempt.

There are to be mobile or fixed speed cameras on some roads across Wales to monitor drivers, and you can see where these are by going to be GoSafe | Wales Road Casualty Reduction Partnership.

Those still confused about whether it’s 20 or 30 everywhere in Wales should have a look at  https://datamap.gov.wales.

Motorists driving in Wales are being warned to pay close attention to road signs rather than SATNAVS, but Facebook seems to be full of complaints of snail-like traffic crawling along with the occasional impatient motorist overtaking at speed.

Be careful out there. Confusion seems to be the order of the day.

Me?  I am probably never going to drive again. Eeek!
