The Murphys on the Move
The Murphy family will soon be on the move.
The Rev Shirley Murphy is looking forward to a new venture, working closely with the community in East Landsker, but both she and her husband, Julian, want to assure the community that the food bank they set up in Carmarthen will not be affected. It will continue as usual at Christ Church Carmarthen, each Friday.
The official news is: “The Venerable Paul Mackness, Archdeacon of St Davids, acting as commissary for the Lord Bishop of St Davids, is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev Shirley Murphy as priest-in-charge within the united benefice and local ministry area of East Landsker.”
Shirley currently serves as domestic chaplain to the Bishop of St Davids and will remain as clerical secretary as well as interfaith officer for the diocese.
She will be working alongside the Rev Kingsley Taylor in the Whitland pastoral area, sharing primary pastoral care for the churches of St Mary Whitland, Cyffig, St Tysilio, Llandissilo, St David, Clunderwen, and St Brynach, Llandboidy.
Shirley will be licensed on Thursday 14 September at 7pm in St Mary’s Church, Whitland, and will continue to reside at the Vicarage, Abergwili, until early 2024 when the family will move to the Vicarage, Meidrim.
