Changes Proposed to Controversial Housing Development.

Tenby’s Brynhir proposed housing development has been a source of concern since it was first raised in 2018.

Campaigners opposed the plans to build housing on the land that they claimed was Tenby’s last green space, but planning was eventually agreed to create 144 new homes, the majority being affordable housing.

Originally the council was granted planning permission for those homes to include 102 residential units that would be affordable, eight that would be shared ownership, and 34 open-market shared units.

Now it has been reported that the council is to consider reducing those numbers, and it is likely that only 125 homes will be built, based on advice from the developers. The local authority officers are advising that affordable housing units should not fall below 71 per cent and shared ownership houses should be at six per cent

Developer are also asking for amendments to the play provision that was agreed for the development, which would mean them only providing a multi-use space for ball games and not the other play facilities originally planned.
