Life Skills Support for Young People
The Upskill Project at the POINT Youth Centre wants everyone to know what it is offering young people.
The centre in North Pembrokeshire works with young people between 16 and 25 and offers one-to-one support, drop-in sessions and group work. Its aim is to improve confidence and self-esteem, and remove barriers to employment. It gives help with CV building, application forms, interview skills, volunteering and work placements, benefit support, and help to fulfil universal credit obligations.
In an effort to help young people take better control of their lives, and to build resilience and confidence, it also helps with budgeting, shopping, timekeeping, and urges those in need of support to pop in or make contact.
POINT says: “Tea and Toastie Thursdays (11am-1pm) are due to start on 9 February. It will be an open and safe environment to come along and speak with peers and/or the youth skills development coordinator about any struggles or concerns. Laptops will also be available during this time.
“We also offer support for mental health and wellbeing, emotional awareness, homelessness issues, independent living skill, and just a warm safe place to pop in for a cuppa and chat.”
