Roman Invasion at Castell Henllys

Mwynhewch hanner tymor yn llawn hanes, helfeydd trysor a hwyl ar thema jiwbilî ar Arfordir Penfro

Mae Awdurdod Parc Cenedlaethol Arfordir Penfro wedi trefnu amserlen lawn o weithgareddau a digwyddiadau i’ch helpu chi a’ch teulu i fwynhau’r gwyliau hanner tymor hwn.

P’un a ydych chi’n bwriadu ymuno mewn digwyddiadau ar thema’r Jiwbilî neu brofi rhywbeth yn y Parc Cenedlaethol, mae rhywbeth i bob aelod o’r teulu ei ddarganfod, o Gampau Canoloesol i Oresgyniad Rhufeinig ac o arddangosfeydd ysbrydoledig i Saffari Chwilod.

Yn ogystal ag amrywiaeth o ddigwyddiadau yn nhri atyniad yr Awdurdod yng Nghastell Caeriw, Pentref Oes Haearn Castell Henllys ac Oriel y Parc a’r Ganolfan Ymwelwyr, mae cyfleoedd hefyd i ddarganfod bywyd gwyllt arbennig y Parc Cenedlaethol.

Meddai Cadeirydd Awdurdod y Parc Cenedlaethol, Paul Harries: “P’un a ydych chi am ymuno ag un o’r digwyddiadau arbennig sydd wedi’u trefnu ar gyfer yr hanner tymor hwn neu’n chwilio am daith gerdded wych gyda golygfeydd hardd, bydd gan Arfordir Sir Benfro rywbeth i’ch helpu i fwynhau eich hun wrth grwydro’r ardal.

“Mae’r Parc Cenedlaethol a’i Mawrhydi y Frenhines ill dau’n dathlu 70 mlynedd eleni ac mae digonedd o ffyrdd y gallwch ddathlu’r ddau ben-blwydd ar Arfordir Sir Benfro.”

Yng Nghastell Caeriw bydd Hanes Atgas yn cael ei gynnal ar 30 Mai, 31 Mai, 1 Mehefin am 11am.  Dysgwch am y pethau na chawsoch chi wybod amdanyn nhw yn y dosbarth drwy’r sgwrs ryngweithiol hon ar gyfer y genhedlaeth iau. Ar gael am ddim gyda thâl mynediad arferol.

Mae Cwmni Theatr y Merrymakers yn cyflwyno diwrnod hwyliog yn llawn arfau gwarchae, chwerthin a hyd yn oed draig yng Nghaeriw ddydd Mercher 1 Mehefin, 10am-4.30pm. Ar gael am ddim gyda thâl mynediad arferol.

Bydd yr anhygoel Bowlore yn dod â’u saethyddion a’u marchogion i Gaeriw ar gyfer Campau Canoloesol rhwng 2-5 Mehefin gydag arddangosfeydd anhygoel a gweithgareddau ymarferol.  Mynediad arferol ynghyd â thâl bach (arian parod) ar gyfer rhai gweithgareddau.

I ddathlu’r Jiwbilî Platinwm, gallwch ddilyn Llwybr y Brenhinoedd a’r Breninesau, a fydd yn eich herio i ddod o hyd i rai o’r brenhinoedd enwocaf o hanes Prydain sy’n cuddio yn y Castell.  £1 y plentyn gan gynnwys gwobr frenhinol, yn ogystal â’r tâl mynediad arferol.

Yng Nghastell Henllys cewch flas o’r Oes Haearn drwy deithio’n ôl mewn amser i Ymuno â’r Llwyth rhwng 11am-12.30pm neu 2.30pm-4pm ar 31 Mai a 2 Mehefin. Bydd y llwyth yn mynd â chi i gyfnod yr Oes Haearn drwy sgyrsiau, arddangosiadau a gweithgareddau ymarferol fel gwneud bara, hyfforddi rhyfelwyr ac adeiladu. Yn addas ar gyfer plant 6-11 oed. £5 yn ogystal â thâl mynediad arferol.

Bydd Gweithdy Tecstilau Hynafol rhwng 11am a 4pm ar 28 Mai yn dysgu technegau tecstilau ein cyndeidiau i greu eich tecstilau cynhanesyddol eich hun. £25 y pen (sy’n addas ar gyfer plant dros 12 oed gydag oedolyn sy’n talu). Yn cynnwys mynediad i’r safle.

Mae Celtiaid Naturiol Greadigol yn cynnig cyfle i oedolion a phlant wneud cerflun neu ddarn o gelf gan ddefnyddio clai a deunyddiau naturiol eraill o’r coetir cyfagos rhwng 10. 30am-12 canol dydd a 2pm-3. 30pm ar 30 Mai. £9 y pen, yn cynnwys tâl mynediad i’r safle.

Yn y Gweithdy Sgiliau Hynafol cewch weld sut oedd pobl yn gwneud rhaff o wahanol ddeunyddiau, y grefft hanfodol o gynnau tân a thechnegau goroesi eraill ar 1 Mehefin rhwng 10. 30am-12. 30pm neu 2pm-4pm. Yn addas ar gyfer plant dros 7 oed gydag oedolyn sy’n talu. £15 (yn cynnwys tâl mynediad i’r safle).

Bydd Goresgyniad Rhufeinig ar y safle ar 3 a 4 Mehefin rhwng 11am a 4.30pm.  Dewch i ddysgu am ffordd y llengoedd Rhufeinig o fyw gyda chrefftau a gweithgareddau.  Arddangosfeydd ar y safle am 12.30pm a 2.30pm.  Oedolyn £10, Consesiynau £8.50, Plant £6.50, Teulu (dau oedolyn a dau o blant) £27.50.

O 11am ar 4 Mehefin bydd Oriel y Parc a Chaffi’r Pererinion yn cynnal Jamborî Jiwbilî, dathliad llawn hwyl i’r teulu cyfan gyda barbeciw, cerddoriaeth fyw, celf a chrefft i blant a gemau ffair traddodiadol. Mynediad am ddim.

Cynhelir mewn partneriaeth â’r Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol. £3 y plentyn.

 

 

 

                     Medieval Mayhem with Bowlore at Carew Castle

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority has arranged a packed schedule of activities and events to help you and your family enjoy the half-term holiday.

Whether you’re looking to join in Jubilee-themed events or experience something in the National Park, there’s something for every member of the family to discover, from Medieval Mayhem to a Roman Invasion and from inspiring exhibitions to a Bug Safari.

As well as a range of events at the Authority’s three attractions at Carew Castle, Castell Henllys Iron Age Village and Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre, there are also opportunities to discover some of the National Park’s wonderful wildlife.

National Park Authority chairman Paul Harries said: “Whether you’re looking to join one of the special events that have been organised for this half-term or are simply looking for a wonderful walk with a beautiful backdrop, the Pembrokeshire Coast will have something to help you enjoy exploring the area.

“The National Park and Her Majesty the Queen are both marking 70-year milestones this year and there are of plenty of ways you can celebrate both anniversaries on the Pembrokeshire Coast.”

At Carew Castle you can discover Horrid Histories on 30 May, 31 May and 1 June at 11am. Discover all the things you were never taught in history lessons with this interactive talk for the younger generation. Included free with normal admission.

The Merrymakers Theatre Company will stage a fun-filled day of siege weapons, laughter and even a dragon to Carew on Wednesday 1 June, 10am-4.30pm; included free with normal admission.

The brilliant Bowlore will bring their archers and knights to Carew for Medieval Mayhem from 2 to 5 June with awesome displays and hands-on activities; normal admission plus small cash charge for some activities.

To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, you can take on the King and Queens Trail, which will challenge you to find some of the most famous monarchs from British history hiding in the Castle; £1 per child including a royal prize, plus normal admission, 28 May-5 June.

At Castell Henllys you can experience the Iron Age by travelling back in time to Join the Tribe 11am-12.30pm or 2.30pm-4pm on 31 May and 2 June. The tribe will teach you about Iron Age life through talks, demonstrations and hands-on activities such as breadmaking, warrior training and building. Suitable for ages 6-11, £5 plus normal admission.

Ancient Textiles Workshop 11am-4pm on 28 May will teach you the textile techniques of our ancestors to create your own prehistoric textile; £25 per person (suitable for children over 12 accompanied by a paying adult); includes admission to site.

Naturally Creative Celts offers adults and kids the chance to make a sculpture or piece of art using clay and other natural materials from the surrounding woodland, 10.30am-12 noon and 2pm-3.30pm on 30 May; £9 per person, includes admission to the site.

The Ancient Skills Workshop reveals how people made rope from various materials, the essential art of fire starting and other survival techniques on 1 June, 10.30am-12.30pm or 2pm-4pm; suitable for children aged over 7 accompanied by a paying adult, £15 (includes admission to the site).

The site will be subject to a Roman Invasion on 3 and 4 June 11am-4.30pm. Come and find out about the Roman legions’ way of life with crafts and activities; arena displays at 12.30pm and 2.30pm; adults £10, concessions £8.50, children £6.50, family (two adults and two children) £27.50.

At Oriel y Parc exhibitions include the On Your Doorstep display in the Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum Wales gallery. From ghost slugs to gold coins, let the discoveries in this exhibition inspire you. Then get ready to make your own. Open every day 10am-4pm.

For those looking to join in the Jubilee celebrations the Hunt the Corgi Trail challenges you to find all the dogs that have escaped around the grounds; 28 May-5 June, £2 per child including a special prize.

If you want to create your own crown ready for the celebrations, join the Queen’s Jubilee Fun drop-in session 11am-3pm, 1 June; £3 per child.

From 11am on 4 June Oriel y Parc and Pilgrims Café will play host to a Jubilee Jamboree, a fun-packed celebration for all the family with a barbecue, live music, children’s arts and crafts and traditional funfair games; free entry.

If you’re looking to discover more about the National Park’s wonderful wildlife, Brilliant Bats at Carew Castle 8.45pm-10.30pm on 30 May will give you the chance to discover more about what these elusive nocturnal creatures get up to and tune in to their chatter on our echolocation detectors; adults £6, children £4, booking essential.

For fans of creepy crawlies, the Bug Safari at Colby Woodland Gardens 2pm-4pm on 1 June will give a chance to explore the woodland, search through the grass meadow or check what’s lurking in the pond and stream.
