Newport Surf Lifesaving Club, which was established in 1970, has good reason to celebrate.

Since it started, the club has provided training and education for those as young as seven in a wide range of water safety awareness, including surf rescue, first aid and resuscitation.

In dire need of carrying out extensive repairs, the club began a fundraising campaign in 2021.

£61,000 came from the Enhancing Pembrokeshire Grant awarded by Pembrokeshire County Council, and the club launched a JustGiving page and held fundraising events to match-fund that amount. In addition the West Wales Freemasons and the Fishguard Freemasons donated  £10,500 along with the Masonic Charitable Foundation.

The clubhouse now has new windows and doors, a new roof, and a complete refurbishment both inside and out.

Club members also voluntarily put in many hours painting and decorating and making the club fit for another 50 years of service.
