Nature Reserve Reopens

It’s good news for those who have been waiting six years for the Goodwick Moor Nature Reserve to reopen. Initially closed by the Wildlife Trust of South & West Wales, which manages the reserve, because of issues with damage and disturbance to wildlife, the area has been given a fresh lease of life. A new 500m long boardwalk and new wildlife pond are now available for the wildlife – and careful visitors – to enjoy.

Initially the closure in 2016 came about because of fears that motorbikes, horses and dogs off the lead were creating unacceptable levels of disturbance. The new boardwalk has been created with those concerns in mind, avoiding some sensitive areas and taking walkers around the new pond.

The boardwalk and pond were funded by a Welsh Government Local Places for Nature grant which was made to the Pembrokeshire Nature Partnership, hosted by Pembrokeshire County Council.

Visitors are advised to keep dogs on a lead at all times.

The reserve is situated below the A40 trunk road between Goodwick and Fishguard with access along a public right of way from the A40 (Grid Reference: SM 94898 37541).
