Dros y misoedd nesaf bydd cyfres o deithiau arbennig yn rhoi cipolwg i ymwelwyr o fywyd yng nghastell canoloesol cadarn Castell Caeriw.

Gyda’r hanes cyfoethog a’r nodweddion pensaernïol canrifoedd oed, bydd y pum taith dywys yn rhan o raglen gyffrous o ddigwyddiadau a gweithgareddau yn atyniad Awdurdod Parc Cenedlaethol Arfordir Penfro; sydd ar agor bob dydd drwy gydol yr haf.

Caiff y teithiau eu cynnal yn ystod yr oriau agor a byddant yn cael eu cynnig am ddim gyda’r tâl mynediad arferol. Codir tâl ychwanegol am deithiau gyda’r nos.

Ddydd Iau 13 Gorffennaf am 2.30pm, gall ymwelwyr edrych ymlaen at fod yn rhan o Daith o amgylch yr Ardd yn rhad ac am ddim. Fel rhan o’r daith bydd tywysydd gwybodus yn rhoi cyflwyniad i chi i’r gwelyau perlysiau coginio, lliwio, meddyginiaethol a phersawrus a chewch gipolwg diddorol ar y defnydd o berlysiau mewn hanes.

I’r rhai sydd â diddordeb yn y gwaith ymarferol o adeiladu castell, rydyn ni’n eich annog i ymuno ag un o’n teithiau Cyfrinachau Adeiladu’r Castell. Bydd y teithiau hyn yn cael eu cynnal am 2.30pm ar ddydd Iau 6 Gorffennaf, 7 Medi a 5 Hydref, a byddant yn canolbwyntio ar hen dechnegau adeiladu a nodweddion pensaernïol cudd y cestyll hynafol hyn.

Mae’r Teithiau Ysbrydion hynod boblogaidd hefyd yn dychwelyd i Gastell Caeriw yr haf hwn, gan roi’r cyfle i ymwelwyr ddysgu am ochr dywyll bywyd y Castell. Bydd y digwyddiad cyntaf yn cael ei gynnal nos Iau 20 Gorffennaf am 8pm, a bydd y digwyddiadau eraill yn cael eu ar 10 Awst am 7.30pm a 24 Awst am 7pm. Ceir hanesion arswydus a chythryblus am ysbrydion a fydd yn rhoi ias i lawr eich cefn.

Bydd Teithiau Min Nos o amgylch y Castell yn cael eu cynnal nos Iau 27 Gorffennaf am 8pm, nos Iau 17 Awst am 7.15pm a nos Iau 31 Awst am 6.45pm. Gan wneud y mwyaf o’r heddwch a’r tawelwch ar ôl i ddrysau’r Castell gau am y dydd, bydd y teithiau cerdded hyn yn canolbwyntio ar esblygiad Castell Caeriw o’r gaer Geltaidd i’r castell Canoloesol, y cadarnle Tuduraidd a’r plasty Elisabethaidd – yn ogystal â hanesion am rai o’i thrigolion enwog a lliwgar.

Mae profiad newydd ar gael yng Nghastell Caeriw eleni, sef y Te Prynhawn a Thaith o amgylch y Castell. Er nad oes tocynnau ar ôl ar gyfer mis Mehefin, mae tocynnau ar gael o hyd ar gyfer y daith ddydd Sadwrn 16 Medi am £20 yr oedolyn a £14 y plentyn (4-16). Yn ogystal â chyfle i fwynhau brechdanau ffres, cacennau cartref blasus a phaned o de neu goffi yn yr Ardd Furiog, mae’r profiad hefyd yn cynnwys taith unigryw o amgylch y Castell a chyfle i ddysgu am ei hanes arbennig.

A series of specialist tours scheduled for the coming months will offer visitors a tantalising glimpse of life at the medieval stronghold of Carew Castle.

Set against a backdrop of rich history and centuries-old architecture, the five guided tours will form part of a programme of events and activities at the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority-run attraction, which is open every day throughout the summer.

Tours taking place during opening hours will be included free with the normal admission charge, while evening tours will be subject to an extra charge.

On Thursday 13 July at 2.30pm, Castle visitors can look forward to a free Garden Tour. Led by a knowledgeable guide, the tour will provide an introduction to the beds of culinary, dye, medicinal and fragrant herbs at Carew’s Walled Garden and give insights into their uses throughout history.

Those with an interest in the practicalities of building a castle are advised to come along to one of the free Secrets of Castle Construction tours. Taking place at 2.30pm on Thursdays 6 July, 7 September and 5 October, these tours will focus on long-forgotten building techniques and the hidden architectural features of these ancient fortifications.

The ever-popular Ghost Walks also return to Carew this summer, offering the chance to learn about the darker side of castle life. Filled with tales of ghosts, hauntings and other hair-raising happenings, the first of these events will take place on Thursday 20 July at 8pm, with further dates arranged for 10 August at 7.30pm and 24 August at 7pm.

Evening Castle Tours will take place on Thursday 27 July at 8pm, Thursday 17 August at 7.15pm and Thursday 31 August at 6.45pm. Making the most of the peace and quiet once the castle has closed for the day, these tours focus on its evolution from Celtic fort to medieval fortress, Tudor stronghold and Elizabethan mansion – as well as looking at how its history was shaped by some of its infamous and colourful residents.

New to Carew this year is the High Tea and Castle Tour. Tickets are still available for the tour on Saturday 16 September at a cost of £20 per adult and £14 per child (four to16). Featuring freshly prepared sandwiches and homemade cakes served with tea or coffee in the Walled Garden, the tour also includes an exclusive tour of the castle and a chance to learn about its history.

An extra cost applies for the Ghost Walks, Evening Castle Tours and High Tea and Castle Tour and booking is essential. Tickets can be reserved online at www.pembrokeshirecoast.wales/events.
