There’s good news for ramblers who have, for a while, been unable to cross the river at Little Treffgarne Wood using the footpath from Spittal to Nolton, to the south of Wolfscastle.
The Countryside Access team at Pembrokeshire County Council has nearly finished work on making safe the bridge that had fallen into disrepair and clearing the path on the north-west side of the water.
Recently, walkers approaching the area of the bridge were met by a “footpath closed” sign (see picture above), but now full access will soon be restored.
I have to say that when I queried what was happening with the Countryside Access folk, they responded almost immediately – and with a personal phone call rather than an impersonal email.
Their dedication is impressive and one feels that Pembrokeshire’s public rights of way are in good hands.
