A Beautiful Protest

The We Are Sacred We Are Beautiful (Part 4) exhibition – a celebration of womanhood by Dorothy Morris – runs at the Seagull gallery in Cardigan until 8 July (Wed-Sat, 11am-4pm).

There was a special opening event on 14 June with speakers Ann Hopkins and Jackie Buxton who  talked about what they can offer at Ceredigion Women’s Aid.

Dorothy says the opening highlighted “the problems women still face in this misogynistic world”.

Singer Becky Davies performed at the event; there was a donation box, plus 10 per cent of sales go to Ceredigion Women’s Aid.

The exhibition highlights injustice women faced by women all over the world. Dorothy asked ordinary women to pose naked in protest at the way women are sometimes forced to cover up, and their shocking treatment and lack of freedom.

“Brave women are still coming forward to say we are sacred we are beautiful,” she says.
