With The Addams Family for Halloween

Pembrokeshire.Online celebrated Halloween in great company this year.

We were lucky to get tickets for the FADDS musical comedy The Addams Family at Theatr Gwaun, Fishguard, sold out for all of its four-night run.

FADDS has been creating great nights out for a long time now, and the packed audience entered the spirit of this night with enthusiasm. We counted a number of ghoulish ghosts, pale vampires and skittish skeletons of all sizes and ages who thrilled to the atmosphere.

From the moment Thing drew back the curtain it was obvious how much work and energy this company had put into the show.

Fabulous singing voices, costumes and make-up all added to the spectacle.

The plot centres on a grown-up Wednesday, played by Grace Griffiths – what a voice! – falling in love with a ‘normal’ suitor and the perils of overcoming her weird family, not least her naughty little brother, Pugsley, confidently played by a young man, Evan Houldsworth, whom we expect to see much more of.

All the characters we remember from the American series were there: Gomez, played by Tristan Mansell, Morticia by Angela Griffith. Uncle Fester by Andrew Rowberry, and Granny (though who’s granny exactly is not clear) by Ruth Evans.

The ‘normal’ family, Mrs Beinekes (Kelly Lewis), her husband (Tom Hughes) and their son Lucas (Yori Evans) were baffled by but eventually won over by the honesty of their peculiar hosts.

Lurch, played by Allan Cresswell, of course towered over the proceedings with his growling presence and occasional rolling of the eyes, and the superb chorus danced and sang their hearts out.

The singing really was excellent with some glorious voices and the band were on great form.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without all the people in the background, ensuring the costumes, make-up, sets, lighting and tech support were all pulled together without the audience even noticing.

A special thanks to you all for all the hard work that you have put into another great night with

FADDS at Theatr Gwaun.

Have | forgotten someone?

Ooops…we must not forget Squeak, played superbly in and out of his cage by Snowball. Best rat in the show.
