A Picture of the Past

We have been offered the opportunity to share these images from local photographer Grace Davies. She regularly contributes to Pembrokeshire.Online and has been involved in the restoration of a number of images, bringing history to life for us all…
Grace says: “This is St Davids Cathedral in 1898. The glass-plate negative came to me very water-damaged and seemed almost impossible to restore. But look at it now!

“I love the details in the photo, the two ladies with the horse, the greenhouse in Bishop’s Palace… but my favourite part of this old photo is the fact you can’t see the cathedral from this angle anymore, these days it is covered by trees. We are so lucky to get to see this side to it.
“I can’t take the credit for the restoration – it’s all down to my brother.”
