Saundersfoot Hosts World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals

The World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals and European Rowing Beach Sprint finals will take place in Saundersfoot 14-16 October.

Expectations are that Beach Sprint, a relatively new rowing event, is set to become a future Olympic discipline. The race takes place in coastal boats and starts with athletes running from the beach to the boat. They then row to a designated buoy and back. The race ends with another sprint to a finish line on the beach.

Helen Glover and Charles Cousins, both Olympic medallists, will be taking part this year, and Fishguard and Goodwick’s own Jerry Owen will race with a team consisting of Cardiff’s Bo Hughes, Twickenham’s Jade Lindo, Glasgow’s Laura McKenzie and cox Ryan Glymond.

Spectator tickets are available for the Harbour Lounge and include access to local concessions. The venue boasts some shelter, comfortable loos, and sustainably sourced event blankets, as well as lunchtime entertainment.

Tickets are £10 for adults, and £7 for children and competing athletes. For more information or to buy tickets, visit  worldrowingcoastals2022.org.
