Amy Owl’s Art Exhibition

We have always been fans of Amy Barrett’s vibrant and colourful images, so we are pleased to catch up with her about her latest venture.

When we last spoke, Amy – aka Amy Owl – told us that she was developing her art with the hope that she would have her own exhibition some time in the future. Now that time has come.

Amy left home in March 2020 for the first time and went into supported living with other housemates and support workers. With a range of impairments to deal with, including a learning disability and possibly autism, it was a good move for her but not the best timing.

“Lockdown happened just as I moved,” she told us then. “And I became very poorly. My mental health suffered, and I was very anxious.”

Not the best start to a new life in a new home but Amy found support from the VC Gallery and particularly from tutor Nina Camplin. When she joined Nina’s Zoom art group she really began to find her feet, made friends and grew in confidence.

“I am not treated differently from anyone else,” she told us, adding that the ongoing support from Steph and Barry at the VC Gallery has been really encouraging.

So, that exhibition she hoped for is scheduled for March 2022 and Pembrokeshire.Online will do its very best to be there.
