Mother Earth’s Waters – a Poem by Aline Page

Mother Earth’s Waters

To love and be loved is my soul’s purpose.

To seek expression of this love,

To be loving and loveable again.

To survive criticism, passionate storms of rejection,

Onslaught, slander, incomprehension and blame,

To rise again and again.

From ashes of burnt-out layers of self,

To delve and plunge into resonating pools

Of unconditional love, letting my sore heart be

Clearer, purer, more peaceful and serene,

Blossoming, endlessly renewed

By deeply nourishing fountains within.

Knowing I’m floating in an all embracing sea,

Universally loved whatever I do, did or say,

As I seek to soften and communicate with ease.

To speak honestly, with integrity, clarity and respect.

Able to forget regrets, and discover new avenues,

Tenderly leafed by loving interactions and affection.

So much needs nurture and caring for.

Save for my daughter who doesn’t want my love,

As she’s loved by another, others and needs to be free

Of the ‘burden’ of me! Painfully

Unable to voice the deepest love

I’ve ever known, I write this poem.

As Love’s waters well up and spring forth,

Releasing, cleansing all it touches,

Giving and receiving glimmers of hope, rays of light,

Reflected in my soul’s mirror, moon-like,

Shimmering, transforming and reviving,

As tear-filled rivulets sparkle and gather

Momentum, bursting into sun-drenched streams,

Coursing rivers and gushing rapids,

Falling and leaping unbounded,

Running to tides of endless seas,

Playfully riding waves of eternity,

Flowing and Being

Mother Earth’s Healing Waters.

Aline says of this poem: “It is about how I coped with painful rejection when someone close to me needed to cut ties to enable them to be free in a bigger world – how letting go enabled them to create their own independent life free of any concerns or ties. I identified with how Mother Earth nurtures us and gets damaged, but we’re all on this journey and are part of a process that lets us learn and grow through our experiences. An image of tears overflowing into a stream eventually running into the oceans, of eternal being and knowing that goes beyond this life?”
