Pembrokeshire’s Beaches are the Best
There is good news for those who love to get into or onto the sea in Pembrokeshire: 27 of the 29 beaches sampled for water quality have just received a rating of “excellent”. The other two received a “good”.
The beaches which were deemed to have excellent bathing water are: Amroth Central, Wiseman’s Bridge, Coppet Hall, Saundersfoot, Castle Beach Tenby, South Beach Tenby, Penally, Lydstep, Manorbier, Freshwater East, Barafundle, Broad Haven (South), Freshwater West, West Angle, Sandy Haven, Dale, Marloes Sands, Little Haven, Broad Haven (Central), Druidston Haven, Newgale, Caerfai, Whitesands, Abereiddy, Abermawr, Newport North and Poppit West.
Out of the whole of Wales, the Welsh Government has announced that Pembrokeshire has about a third of the best bathing beaches out of those that complied with high-quality standards for four consecutive years.
Natural Resources Wales has said that out of 105 samples across Wales, 85 have achieved the “excellent” classification with 14 rated “good” and six as “sufficient”.
So, if you are swimming this winter – or sailing and falling overboard – that has to be good news. And if you are planning a UK holiday with clean beaches and water, you could do a lot worse than lovely Pembrokeshire.
