If You’re Looking for Voluntary Work…

LOUISE WILKINSON of PAVS (Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services) has sent the following information for volunteers in Pembrokeshire

At the start of June (during Volunteers’ Week) we relaunched our certificate scheme – where you can get certificates for the hours you volunteer.

You can get your first certificate for just 10 hours of volunteering (then 50, 100 and every 100 up to 1,000). If you log your hours on your Volunteering Wales account, let us know when you hit one of these milestones (as we don’t get a notification). If you would prefer to compete a paper timesheet you can get one here https://padlet.com/volforpembs/celebrate

Or we can email you one/ pop one in the post. Just let us know volunteering@pavs.org.uk.

In the past few weeks there have been some great new opportunities listed on the Pembrokeshire pages of Volunteering Wales. In particular:

Two roles for people good at sewing… Sewing, fixing and mending – not to mention upcycling and creating new items from pre-loved textiles with Transition Bro Gwaun (Letterston/ Goodwick).

If you have an interest in local heritage/tourism and live in the Fishguard area the Ein Hanes Heritage Centre is looking for volunteers

Do you like a chat and a cuppa? TRI Hafal in Tenby is looking for volunteers at its resource and drop-in centre.

Have you got green fingers? Plant Dewi is looking for keen gardeners in the Pembroke area.

All of these great opportunities are listed under ‘latest opportunities’ on the home page (you may have to scroll down the page to see them) at https://pembrokeshire.volunteering-wales.net/

Charity shops across Pembrokeshire are always on the lookout for volunteers; not all of them are registered on Volunteering Wales but please do pop into your nearest shop and ask about volunteering if you’ve got a few hours to spare. Drivers are also needed for a number of schemes across Pembrokeshire (to help people get to appointments and so on).

The vaccine centres in Haverfordwest and Tenby may also be looking for ‘meet and greet’ volunteers. We can provide you with information and contact details for the Volunteering for Health Team who recruit volunteers for the centres.

If you have not managed to find a role that suits you on the website please do not hesitate to contact us, we have some new roles coming soon that we can let you know about.

Kitty Parsons

Kitty has forgotten how long she has been here now but she loves Pembrokeshire for its beauty and it's people. She spends her time searching out stories for pembrokeshire.online, swimming in the sea , drawing and painting as Snorkelfish and eating cake. She says "Pembrokeshire.online has been an opportunity to celebrate this beautiful county and its people. Keep the stories coming. We love to hear from you."
