Wild Pembrokeshire with David Gardner

Where does the time go? We at Pembrokeshire.Online have been missing the lovely images of David Gardner and, although he is extremely busy and can’t write for us for a few weeks, he has kindly allowed us to use some of his images – which we know will uplift and delight you as they do us.

Oystercatchers at dusk

The oystercatchers is one of my absolute favourites of David’s. I love the texture of the water and that golden colour that is such a delight in Pembrokeshire.

Common dolphin

Who doesn’t love a dolphin? For many years I took every opportunity to swim with spinners in the Red Sea. I have such wonderful memories of those days and that dappled light that David has captured here is etched into my memories from swimming over coral reefs in the Egyptian sunlight. Perhaps this is the year I will swim with Welsh dolphins out there in Fishguard Bay. Anyone fancy coming with me?

Giant shearwater

I love this image with the wing just skimming the water. This is a creature of both air and sea, and as my favourite activity has always been snorkelling, it reminds me of the sense of flying while looking down from the surface of the ocean to the magical world beneath.

Herring gull

I know gulls are not the most popular of creatures but I love them with their swagger and their shocking cries and their incredible ability to survive in almost any environment in the world… and then there is the impossible whiteness of them. Amazing!

Razorbill

There are so many lovely images on David’s website, I could have chosen anything and I am sure you would have been delighted. This one caught my eye because of the contrasts in colours and the delightful solid plump shape of this little beauty.

Thank you for the loan of these images David and we hope to hear from you soon.

Kitty Parsons

Kitty has forgotten how long she has been here now but she loves Pembrokeshire for its beauty and it's people. She spends her time searching out stories for pembrokeshire.online, swimming in the sea , drawing and painting as Snorkelfish and eating cake. She says "Pembrokeshire.online has been an opportunity to celebrate this beautiful county and its people. Keep the stories coming. We love to hear from you."
